You could always have a big reception if that's what you want.

I myself did not have a "shotgun" wedding. However, my husband I and did elope. We have been married almost 5 years now. What we are planning on doing is at our 10 yr mark is to renew our vows and have a ceremony and reception. This way we will have time to get our careers were we want them and to be able to afford what we really want. With the cost of wedding and everything that comes with. Along with the fact lets be honest the whole 50 % divorce rate helped us decide to go at it this way. But either way you and your spouse decide to do things is TOTALLY up to you. Good luck I wish you and your spouse the best!

That is your decision. A lot of people just decide to go with a reception.
But from experience, if you decide to go with a wedding ceremony I find it wise to let people know ahead of time that this is for them to witness, because finding out after the fact can be hurtful to some people.
But in the end, all that really matters is that you are married...you don't need a big ceremony for that!

I wouldn't bother. If I'd had eloped, I wouldn't worry about the details of a wedding!

I'm running off, I don't see why you should. The point of a marriage is to end up married. Accomplished.
If you really want a big wedding, do it. If you don't - don't.
I'm not going to. But that doesn't mean you cant.

If a wedding is a "bother", there's no need to have it. There are many other, less stressful, ways to have fun.

What do you want? If you have made a promise to each other in the site of a witness and God, then you're already married. Enjoy it.
