Like most birds, Parakeets have delicate bones - which makes them lightweight for flying. Stepping on a parakeet could cause broken bones and/or internal bleeding. This might not be immediately noticeable to you, but you might start to see blood in her poop, etc. as time goes on. I would take her to the vet ASAP.

If the tail is gone.. it will be fine.
But if it starts losing feathers and starts flying differently..
Then you should go to a vet.
The tails grow pretty fast so you don't need to worry.
What you need to worry about is your 2 year old around the parakeet.
If your 2 year old did it purposely, you should show it how to care for a parakeet.

If your bird acts normally within the next 24 hours, no doubt, she is ok. The lost feathers will soon grow to its original state. Most probably, it was her tail that was stepped on by your child, and there is nothing to worry about at this time.

i do not realize plenty about birds as well the straightforward shown actuality that for sure like he will be participating in or maybe he needs yet another chicken to socialize with. likely even purely attempt putting a reflect by his cage so he can see himself. If the habit retains i'd purely call the vet. they many cases will answer questions over the phone with out seeing them. does no longer sound like it particularly is something real severe although. make effectual too that it has foodstuff in it particularly is dish. it ought to look finished although the actual seeds would properly be empty. So, empty the dish on a daily basis and positioned sparkling feed in it purely to substantiate.

It could be stressed. It could be pulling out its own feathers (which is a serious problem) or it could have a back problem. maybe cutting off the circulation to its tail and causeing the tail to die off.

Birds hide injury well. Tail feathers fall out easier than you would expect.
I think you should visit the vet, it will ease your mind.

take her to the vet. i know most birds when hurt need to be left alone for few days till they are better. the only way know my bird is sick is if she pecks at me. it only happened i noticed when she got hurt. but leaving her alone.. such as not playing with her but still talking to her i noticed in a few day she is back to normal. most birds can heal themselves up. but do take her to the vet.
