Obviously, this is your first kid. I also threw a huge bash for my baby's first birthday. What a waste of money.
But anyway here is my suggestions.
Invite your family and friends over (he won't have any friends of his own to invite yet) and cook a wonderful meal or maybe have a BBQ - it could be a house warming and birthday party in one.
Decorate with Baby's 1st Birthday party decorations and get a delicious cake (I like Costco cakes and they are great if you are having lots of guests).
As party favors give everyone a Candle or something an adult would like.
Have fun!

Do a party at home where your son will be most comfortable or a local park where he can play. I dont see any reason to go all out because with most kids its all very overwhelming. My sister and her husband took their son to a big zoo on his 1st bday and every year since they take a weekend trip to where the zoo is on his bday. No matter what you choose to do, remeber to keep with your sons schedule. If he normally takes naps from 12-2 - start the party about an hour after he normally wakes up. if he gets tired or cranky dont force him to open gifts or eat more cake. Have fun and takes lots and lots of picks!!!

particular, it may be rude to cancel. Have the social gathering anyhow, each and every time I actually have a social gathering for my son, I not often get rsvps. We invite 10-15 young babies, in many situations purely 2 or 3 will rsvp, & 3 or 4 others will merely ensue (with out rsvping). you already know you are going to have a minimum of three different young babies as properly your son, it extremely is nonetheless adequate for somewhat social gathering. i think of mom and dad could be very indignant in the event that they confirmed up on your living house for the social gathering & no person grow to be there, they probably does no longer attend a social gathering on your son returned, & the different baby who did rsvp won't the two (his mom and dad could have made different plans). i comprehend it extremely is demanding & rude whilst mom and dad do no longer rsvp, even though it extremely is not uncommon, some human beings get truly busy & don't get around to it or save forgetting. Have the social gathering. Amethyst woman - You wrote, "clarify to him that that's demanding, yet actually everyone isn't inevitably the forged acquaintances he could think of they're and acquaintances especially situations permit others down." do no longer say that! merely because of the fact a pal would not come to his social gathering doensn't mean he's no longer a sturdy chum, some mom and dad have issues occurring to the place their baby won't be able to attend, whilst a baby would not visit a social gathering (extraordinarily at a youthful age like this) it would not propose they do unlike them, it may desire to no longer be the baby's fault that he won't be able to attend. human beings have lives, you won't be able to consistently cancel each and everything for yet another classmate's social gathering.

You could ask people instead of bringing presents to bring food, and have a little potluck. Just buy some cute decorations, and balloons. Thats what I did for both of my kids birthdays. At that age they don't really need a lot of toys, and they wont remember anyway. Just make sure he has his own b-day cake to enjoy. Good luck.

What we did was rent out the skate rink for the family and a few friends. I know my son wont remember but we can show him the pictures later when hes older. He had his own bday cake to play in and get all messy, and several activies for him to enjoy. I know it sounds like a huge party but it wasnt, just a few friends and family and he was happy. They have great 1st bday decor at www.birthdayexpress.com and it turned out pretty great. Good luck!

i recommend keeping the party small, with just close family and friends. your son will already be overwhelmed with all the presents and excitement, so a large crowd can put some kids over the top. for my sons 1st bday, i invited about 10 people that my son was close to, made a cake and punch, and ordered pizza. have fun!

We did our baby's first birthday party up in Baby Einstein. I guess the reason why we picked that was because it had allot of different colors to it and they even have a little dish that you can do their hand print in, and a hat and bib that says 1st birthday on it.

Well, you have to be creative! Go to party city, they have alot of decorations and party favors there for an affordable price...go with a theme as well...Bob the Builder seems to have won over some hearts lately...lol...and you can either cook to save money or do the 12 footer sandwich...A cake with his picture in it...Im a single mom and I did it all for under 100 bucks...its worth it and easy to clean up!

well, for our son's birthdays we began on his first to make it into a grand tradition that he'd never forget..
we too at the time were just starting out in a new home and on a tight budget.. soooo instead of a party we decided to go to the aquarium..
and it's become a family tradition, now.. he loves it and we get to take a few of his little pals with him.. he has cupcakes with a candle and presents.. but it's a blast and he looks forward to it every year!!
