I bake cakes and take out my milk and eggs and let them come to room temperature. I find that my cakes bake more evenly. But lukewarm milk should be heated until you can just feel the warmth. I make yogurt with lukewarm milk.

Lukewarm milk is milk that has been heated slightly. Its warmer than room temp, but not hot.

"room temperature" will really do. The actual specific definition, I believe, is "body temperature". I always test for lukewarm by heating milk in a pan and dropping a little bit on my wrist. If it doesn't feel cold or hot, it's perfect.

Lukewarm to me would be heating on da microwave for about 20-30 seconds..it won't be hot and the chill from being refrigerated will be gone

Just microwave it for about 30 seconds. It's milk that is a pinch warmer than room temp! Cold milk may affect the recipes ability to rise, therefore the chill is taken off. Happy baking!

lukewarm is barely warm, not hot or cold. If you have it too warm it may not turn out right. They sometimes use lukewarm milk to dissolve yeast in recipes and it would kill the yeast if it were too hot but would not dissolve the yeast if it is not warm. If it feels warm to the touch and not hot it is fine. Good luck.

Milk that has had the chill knocked off ot it... body temp or so... nuke for 30 sec or so and stick your finger in it... if you can feel the coolness, nuke again. If you feel hot and yank your finger out, it's too hot; let it cool some.
