God usually dogs know best for their young but in the case that it is rainy I might move them but when you are doing it make sure she is with you so she knows you are not hurting them. Maybe even move the kennel down by the hole and she might even move them there herself. She is just protecting them.

yea I agree with KT, I would move them but not put them back where you had them, obviously your dog didn't like the location for a reason. I would have suggested about what KT said as well. I'm sure she's just trying to protect her pups and for whatever reason didn't feel the other space was safe. I can tell you when I was young my dad had a large cardboard box and put old blankets in the bottom and put the mom and pups in it. I think he cut a whole that was high enough for mom to get out but not the pups, so it's pretty much the same idea as KT's. I do know the mom's does need a decent amount of space or she has to be able to get away from the pups otherwise I've seen the mom lay on top of a pup and kill it. Also the mother in her natural habitat (outside) would have preplanned a place for birth. So I wouldn't just assume the spot she chose was the best spot. She may have felt she had no other choice.

You should bring her and the pups inside. The puppies shouldn't be outside even in a kennel. It is too cold out. Get her a nice box that she and the pups can all fit in comfortably. Line the box with clean towels and place it an a quiet, private area of your house. You didn't say if you have other dogs or what kind of kennel, but something about it wasn't safe to her. Now she is making a den the best she can with the circumstance you left her in.

she should have had a welping box made before the pups were born, but too late for that. yes, bring her and the pups in the house in a room that is not busy and she will feel that the pups are more safe in a quiet area, and you must get them out of the rain, NOW !!! lay down some old sheets , and have her food and water near by before bringing her and the pups inside.
change the sheets about every 3 days, you will know how often to change the sheets by the solied appearance. do NOT let people bother her or the pups.
pups can get very ill when they are under 2 weeks of age. i never allow anyone to view or come near my pups until they are at least 2 weeks old. god bless you.

My family used to breed dogs and have also had two litters of kittens, we found that if an area is set up before having puppies/kittens they often are comfortable there. But, one of our cats was convinced to move her kittens. She was moving them because too many people were around and she was getting very protective. The best thing to do would be to find an area where the dog is comfortable and secluded enough to have her own space. She's probably nervous if there is a lot of people around or does not feel safe.

It is natural for a protective mother to move her babies to what she sees as a safer location, away from preditors. She is following instinct. If it is cold where you live you may need to move them but use caution as she may be more irritable than normal. If the kennel is not cave like so she is hidden make it more enclosed and move the family back in she may stay.

Hello, are you asking if when a female dog is in heat, can she take on more than one male dog, effecting that the pups from a litter be from two different male dogs. Yes.

they're in a kennel. other dogs around mom is just protecting her babies. move them to a seperate room (in the bathroom) shut the door and give her some blankets or old towels to put her pups on.

She has probably moved them to some place that she has deemed to be safe, all she is trying to do is protect her babies, so by no means try to move them because she will become very protective of them and could bite you in an attempt to keep them safe. She will know whether to move them or not because of the rain. Dogs have wonderful maternal instincts, sometimes better than humans (haha)
