I have several kids with SID, some of them have autism, some do not (just the SID). It's not entirely bad, we just are very careful about the clothes that we buy. My littlest with issues is five, and cannot wear underwear, he actually wears boxers that are three sizes too big! I'm sure that certain pants cause worse 'vibrations', his way of interpreting the wrong feeling he gets. Sam can't wear jeans, he loses focus, he is fidgety, he really cannot integrate all of the wrong sensations he gets from the stiffness, roughness, rubbing. Make sense? The fear and anxiety do sound a bit like aspergers, and it's possible that just a little counseling will give him the tools to cope. I'd get him evaluated, and keep on eye on school. My son was fine until third grade, then school because a living you-know-what. Early help is better than later...

We presently use Commonwealth Connections Academy (CCA). This is a wonderful program as it is a charter program funded through the state. You get to home educate your children and have an advisory teacher program in place. My daugher is in 6th grade and has 6 teachers at her disposal to ask questions, etc. Besides the core courses there are numerous enriching electives. These studies are not all on-line, submittal of testing, etc. are. This is very user-friendly if you travel. Additionally, they have field trip coordinators in place to provide a minimum of two field trips a month in your area so you can get together with other CCA families.

well in some states you can go to the school your son would have attended and request curriculum for homeschooling, but if you can't in your state:
http://www.homeschoolacademy.com/
http://www.laurelsprings.com/
http://www.homeschoolsupercenter.com/
These are just a few...these are supposed to be accredited programs...if I were you, I would go with something accredited even if it isn't from this list...If you want to find some more type in accredited homeschool programs at your search engine of choice.

There are LOTS out there. What you want might depend on where you live, or might not. Would you want an international program? A local program?

You might want to check with your local school district first to see if they have something set up or if they know of anything specific to your region. You could also check into http://www.k12.com which will be free if they have an academy for your state.

I'm in k12 (k12.com) and it's great for middle schoolers. They give you a computer and all of the supplies you need.
They keep the schooling on your childs level. There's a test beforehand in order for them to determine how hard the level should be. Also, you can control how many lessons your child has a day, when he has vacations, what lessons he has to do, and so on. It's really awesome.

I don't know about online, but switched on schoolhouse has good software that you can use on the computer. It is Christian based, but if you aren't Christian you can still use it -- skip bible study or whatever. You can usually find used copies on some subjects on ebay if you want to get a feel for what it is like and if it would help.

I'm actually homeschooled and I use A Beka. They're great for Christian schooling, or if you aren't religious you could probably still work something out. But, it's www.abeka.com

Themorningstaracademy.org! I go there! Do not use ABEKA unless he is an absolute GENIUS!! Because it is VERY hard. Switched-on-schoolhouse is hard to download... Just to give you a heads up!
