approach him and ask him what his situation is (married, divorced, in a relationship, etc.) but I'm not sure what to say...the last few years in the dating scene have been tough..I'm extremely shy..and he's a bit older than I am. We have exchanged "hello's" when I was in the store, and he seems friendly...not wearing a wedding ring (I know this really doesn't mean much). I can't get him out of my head!! HELP!

Just stop and introduce yourself sometime. "Yeah, I notice you here a lot when I'm shopping". "Nice to meet you", etc. Small talk. Each time you're in try to learn one more thing about him. Find out what town he lives in. Find out if he's into sports (guys love talking about their favorite team). Once you've broken the ice, the rest should be easier.

Hello Jack.
Well you feel the way i have felt so many times. If you think that this man is, or should i say the one for you maybe, then you should find a comon conversation piece to chat about. The reason you are finding it so hard is that you want to ask him out on a date dont you. I feel what you realy should be doing is finding out his likes and dislikes. Being the shy person you are may be you should try listening to some sports results, even if your not interested yourself and next time you meet, just say did you see the game between such and such. That is the way you develope a relationship. Just casual conversation with no intent at all. Take your time and let him know your a person worth knowing and not a worm trying to get in on his life. Once you've found out a few things he likes to chat about and his interests then you will know him enough to quite casualy ask him what time he has lunch and if he would like some company because you will be in the area at the same time. By the way. Sound suprised when he tells you. Let me know how you got on? I'm interested

Just casually talk to him if he looks like he's had a bad day at work say something to cheer him up. Maybe he will take notice and at least be your friend

strike up a conversation one day..either you noticed he has a nice hair cut or whatever..guys love compliments..don't go overboard..and SMILE..that way it will make it easier for him to talk to you and you can slowly start getting to know him without looking desperate ;)
