I already tried the nail stuff that taste nasty it doesnt work..

he is 8, tell him if he keeps bitting his nails his hand will fall off!
it could be a sign of boardem as well, when he starts biteing his nails tell him no but then give him something to do.
for example every time he bites his nails make him take out the trash or clean a window, that should put him off!

My eight year old bits his nail too. I have tried everything. It's a hard habit to break. The only thing that I have not tried is to make him wash his hand every time I see him with his hands in his mouth. I think it is just something that he has to stop on his own. Good Luck.

It depends on if he or she swallows them. Tell the kid that if people bite their nails their teeth will hurt. I don't know very much but this might not work. Sorry!

Explain to the 8 year-old that it is a horrible habbit and if they continue it will get worse they'll probably never stop. I hope that works.
