If you are not the dependent of another taxpayer, you do not need to file unless your gross income exceeds $8,450.00. If you had any income taxes withheld, you need to file to get a refund of those taxes.

If you are the dependent child of another taxpayer, you generally must file if you had earned income of more than $5,150 or un-earned income (dividends, interest, etc.) of more than $850.00.

It depends. If it was from self-employment, then yes. If that's on a W-2, then no.

I would think that you would want to, since you would be getting back any money that was withheld for taxes. Check and see if you have a refund coming. You probably do.
