looking at you, he stil thinks about you? Especially when he started saying this a couple of months ago. You guys didn't talk after the break up for 1 and 1/2 years. He is a very shy person.

Well, instead of wasting time wondering, next time you see him stop and talk and get a feel for whether or not he seems to genuinely want to talk to you. You might be reading way too much into it, but it sounds like you want him back so take the next step.

Simply put he still has feelings for you, whether it is primarily based on loneliness, lust, compassion, nostalgia for the good times, love, or jealously it is hard to tell. You know full well if he has that look in his eyes when he is interested and if that isn't any indicator you can always rely on how much attention he laviously on you as an indicator.
The hard questions now for you to honestly answer is:
1) What do you want to do?
2) What prompted your separation and have those reasons changed? He is an ex for a reason, not to focus on the past too much, but one thing to remember is the reason(s) why. People can change but it takes an enormous amount of willpower and strength of character to change for the better.
3) Do you even still care enough to even be remotely cordial to him? Depending on how you separated ill feelings or malice may result.
Good luck and just to play devil's advocate here, it is true some guys will not care to see their ex with another guy even if they aren't interested in the ex. However, if he is a good person and you are considering getting to know him again, try just hanging out in groups; avoid the partner activities, you know exactly what I mean b/c you might put yourself in a position you do not want to be in or aren't prepared to deal w/emotionally yet.
Lastly, I agree eventually you will need to openly discuss your situation with him, for now I would hold off to get a clearer picture of what he wants. If he is serious about reuniting his actions and words will tell you everything you need to know.

He has probably moved on and now thinks that you can be friends so is being friendly. When a relationship first breaks up you dont usually want to talk to each other, because it can be painful. Don't read anything into this, just see that you may have a new friend... ... ...

He still has the hots for u,but i wouldnt trust him,he is just feeling protective,he should get a life,and as for u,move on,stop looking back,u will find someone better.
If he doesnt have the courage to tell u his feelings ,then he is too weak for u

well it could be that he's tryin to re connect. or he's just being nice and trying to be friends with u, (u wanna get back with him?)u should talk to him after all he's shy. If not say hey sup and leave it as that.

he likes you still, yea ik after a break up is hard and people do drift away! buts that cause it is hard to be friends after daten! talk to him if you want to be back together! most likely he will be happy you brought it up! go for it!

maybe it all depends how you guy's broke up plus some guys can always get annoyed when they see their ex's wit someone else even if they do not want to date them again.
