I know puppies need lots of water daily, but this pup drinks till his bowl is empty and wants more. He eats 2 cups of Purina Beneful three times daily. He is growing at a normal pace, super fast, and has a playful and energetic mischevoues temperment. Is the water requirements normal?

Sounds normal. All dogs need fresh water available to them as they want it.

Any dog from the Bull line as well as some others with floppy lips will tend to drink more. You may have noticed your floor has gotten silmyer lately? I had 3 rotties and a bullmastiff cross, they went through 2+gallons a day, more if it was hot out. May I suggest a watering trough?

If you think that he is drinking too much, take him to the vet and have him checked out and explain what is causing you concern. My dog is a rescue dog and he has kidney problems my vet gave me some information about k9 kidney problems and I read that one of the signs of kidney problems is drinking huge amounts of water. In this case I hope that you are worrying for no reason because if he does have kidney problems he will need to be on a special diet for his problem. Good luck.

It's probably nothing to worry about, but I would have him checked out anyway. There is always the possibility of diabetes, though it's not very likely.
