I get sinus infections a couple times a year. The one that works best for me is called Biaxin or Clarithomycin (not sure if I spelled that right). I usually get 500mg

They make it in either XL, the extended release you take once a day, of the regular one in which you take one pill every 12 hours. Its pretty tough on the stomach so its better taken with food.

My usual dosage is for 10 days, and combined with a nasal steroid spray (like nasonex), and/or a decongestant, it usually does the trick.

Make sure you finish all your medication or you risk the infection returning. Hope you feel better!!

There are lots of different antibiotics that can be used to treat sinusitis; if you're in doubt about the one you've been prescribed, call your pharmacy and ask them to explain the proper dosage schedule.

Steam is your chum to get rid of congestion. Drink a cup of warm tea or water, take a lengthy warm bathe or bathtub, run the tub and sit next to it for the steam. placed a towel over your head like a tent and lean over the nice and comfortable water tap. i have chanced on in case you wait and run the tap a lengthy time period to get it steaming first earlier you lean over with the tent you keep your decrease back. Then I plug the sink and keep the tap operating letting it drain down that secondary drain. Do it for roughly 10 minutes. Sounds nuts notwithstanding it really works. you may also use a warm (yet no longer burning warm) wash fabric on your face or as a compress (tremendous for sinus issues too).

I took erythromycin but I had to stop taking it because of GI reactions. I had such bad itching at the "end" that I would try anything else. I didn't realize it was a sinus infection and didn't get it treated right away, a big mistake.

I was put on amoxicillian (sp). For dosage you need to ask a doctor or pharmacist... because people can't give you that safely over the internet.
