The prey model raw food diet is low carb...which is great since dogs have no dietary need for carbohydrates.

If your dog is over weight and has been recommended to be on a low-carb diet, its not easy. My cat was at risk for diabetes so he was put on a low carb diet. We were told that most dry foods including ones that say "weight management" are often too high in carbs. Your best bet is to either buy a wet food that is high in protein or go to your vet for further options.

A home cooked diet, a raw diet or a good quality kibble.

Kibbles such as Science Diet, IAMS/Eukanuba, pedigree, Purina Dog Chow and other grocery store brands are loaded with cheap fillers (carbohydrates) and by products.
