Here is the easiest way to do it.And the way I love it.
Toast your bread.
Mix about a half a cup of butter(softened)
1 1/2 tsps of garlic powder
1 tsp of italian seasoning
1/8 tsp of salt

Soften butter,mix in seasonings.
Place butter and bread on table.
Then everyone can spead their own amount of seasoned butter on their toast.

To just bake it with butter on it as you had planned... use about 1 1/2 to tsps of garlic powder, less if it is garlic salt.
Hope this helps

well I like alot of garlic. I usually mix the garlic powder with a little onion salt. Use about a tablespoon of garlic per 1/2 stick of butter then just a dash of onion salt. All depends on how much you like. If you have some parmasan cheese sprinkle some of that on too.

It depends on how strong you like your garlic spread. A 1/2 tsp is mile, a tsp is medium and any more would be strong . . . if added to 1/2 stick of butter (or margarine). Start low, mix, taste, and then add more if necessary for your taste. I use this all the time and it works great. Add a little cajun spice or paprika or oregano on top for a little pizzaz. If you use sliced frencch bread, you can also freeze it till later.

Yes you can use garlic powder......just sprinkle about a tsp at first to the butter and mix* smell to see if it's "garlicy" enough for you..You don't want it over powering tho.

Or
You can butter the bread and just sprinkle garlic powder ontop

Spread the butter on the bread and then add half a teaspoon of garlic powder (a little more if desired) and bake.

The way I make my garlic bread is to take 1 stick of butter and put in a pot on the stove and melt it. then put in 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and stir it together(according to your garlic preference). then put it on the bread and pop it in the oven.I always put some kind of cheese on top like mozzerella or parmesan. It is really good.

I would just go by taste, try melting the butter, putting a little bit of garlic in (a little bit being around maybe a teaspoon), and add more to taste.
