When a Boyfriend and his Girlfriend goes out for some fun.....why does they call it a "DATING" ???
I mean, It is not the only EARTHLY EVENT that follows a calenders.....

ya ur right, may be they call it so.......so that the boy and the girl remember the day and the person........when they cheat their partner or leave them n go vit someone else.
it may be date to remember.

May be because they have to keep track of the date they are going out. The date is important in relation to the girl's menstrual cycle. Whether she will get unwanted pregnancy on that date or not.

You don't have to be a girlfriend and boyfriend to date - I regular "date" a girl with whom I am just a platonic friend.

dating is something that yo do before you become a girlfriend or boyfriend.
you are looking for the right person by going out with him/her and knowing her/his interests.

The closest I can get is the Muslim arranged marriage where the to be bride, in burqah, serves 'dates' to the prospective bridegroom.
