I do alot of foster work with kitties. The ones who meow the most are the ones who were raised from birth with humans who talk to them. They recognize us as a different species that doesn't use the kitty form of language (body language). So they try to vocalize since that's what they hear us doing. If you have more than one kitty in the house, you will notice that the kitties do not go up to each other and meow.....they only walk up to a human and meow. Here are some things a cat would have to say.

Hi, I like you.
I'm hungry, but not for the dry stuff in my bowl. Give me the good kitty food out of a can this time.
Spend time with me.
Pet me.
I'm scared a little, reassure me.
Don't leave me alone.
I'm so glad you're home, I missed you.
Clean my box, i need to pee.

Also learn your kitties body language. Her rubbing on you when you come home is a greeting and she is making you smell like home again. Her approach with her tail straight up is saying she likes you. Her turning her butt to your face is her acknowledging you are the boss.

Sometimes my cat will go in the other room, forget I'm home, and meow out of loneliness. I'll yell out and she'll come back.

Maybe she smells another cat, maybe she's out for attention.

Kitties have different meows that can mean different things. She could be trying to tell you she's hungry or her litter box needs cleaning. I have five cats & they even meow & call for each other when they want to play or be lovey. One of our male cats "Milky Way" even calls for my daughter, "his sissy", when he wants to be held. Watch her body language when she meows. Does she seem alert? Stressed? Happy? Yes, she could be telling you she is sick too. A quick trip to the vet could put your mind a ease.

Some cats are just talkers. My little girl is. When she walks into a room and I say "Hi Evey." she meows back as a greeting. It's adorable. No I'm not making that up. Why on earth would this scare you?

don't concern yourself-every cat meows, it's usually because he/she wants attention. it could also be that she/he is hungry or would like to go outside.

b/c cats dont bark or moo!!! just kidding. maybe she wants attention. shes not sick or mad at u. its just natural for cats to meow for random reasons. my dog barks all the time too and there's no reason for it. sometimes she hears something outside so she barks

That is her way of communicating with you. Next time she does that, check to see if she is hungry offer her food, or she may just want a pat. or check to see she isn't hurting somewhere.
