I am thinking of getting an XC 70 wagon. Does anyone own one or has owned one and can tell me if the car is any good? I am mainly concern about the electrical system and mpg.

I just purchased a 2001 V70XC and am very happy with it. I've been getting about 20mpg around town and 26mpg on the highway - much better than the 4WD SUVs that we were considering, with the peace of mind of AWD and just as much room for the family!

It is a very safe and thoughtfully-engineered vehicle, and there are many electronically-controlled features (power seats/mirrors with memory, controls on the steering wheel, rear wiper control, electronically controlled transmission, etc). I can see where this may seem like there are "more gadgets to break", but I haven't had any issues myself, and I've not heard of anyone else having issues with the electrical.

Good luck!

The XC means that it uses all-wheel drive. Which will reduce your MPG. Though i cant see it going below 15mpg in city. The newer volvo's are less reliable than the older ones so i cant really say. I have a 1993 volvo 940 wagon

Depends on the MY. If its a newer Ford Volvo, yes there are electrical issues.
I would look at other car makes it it's class.
Subaru Outback 3.0

very safe car as are almost all volvos dont forget maintence costs foreign cars are good cars but the costs to keep one in great running shape are higher then the japenese or american vehicles it isnt unusual to see a volvo with 200k or more still running well.decent mpg for the weight volvos are very heavy autos.

You might have a bolt loose on the driveshaft or the constant-velocity shafts. Also check the wheel balance and alignment and check the tires for bumps and other damage. Finally, check the fluid level in the transmission.

Look under user review in Yahoo Autos. So much easier.
