I guess combing is all you''have'' to do, however I have always bathed my cat because I love that clean smell when an animal is just bathed. I used to do it about once a month. A little lazy about it lately though.
However if the cat is full grown you could get scratched realll bad. I started my cat when he was real young so I never had that problem, he just stays there. Of course he knows he gets tuna when it's over!!! I think he hates the blow dryer more than the bath!! It's easier to dry them if they are in a crate. Just be careful and do not leave the cat unattended with a dryer.
If cats get fleas I feel they need a bath, cause they have all that flea poop on them and also all that dried blood and that can stink

This is true. Cats do clean themselves, that's what they are doing when they lick themselves. A cats tongue is rough for this very reason - to pull out dirt, debris, and loose hair to keep themselves well groomed. Brushing your cat will help keep them groomed and keep loose hair at bay better than they can but bathing isn't necessary unless your cat gets into something that it should not ingest (which shouldn't be anywhere near where a cat would be anyway). If the cat gets sap or something like that all of them, then a quick clean up bathe is appropriate but bathing them otherwise isn't necessary.

You dont have to bath your cat at all. in the wild do you think they would plunge themselves into water and lather up? but if your cat is on the beek then a bath cant hurt. once every 2 weeks would be ideal, if you bath them to regularly you dont leave enough time for the natural oils to get through their coat, you will irritate your cats skin and might do damage..

Yes.
You should bathe your cat at least once a month. This helps the cat with its daily cleaning routine, and gets it used to water fast. This can be very helpful in case you ever need to bathe your cat in an emergency: such as an accident with a skunk.
Fill up a bathtub about 1/4 of the way full, and slowly dip the cat in it. He may scratch you and try to get away, but hang on and hold him firmly around the waist. Wash and scrub him in and out with the water. For a better bath, and to get rid of dirt, use a tad of baby shampoo or a safe cat shampoo. Rinse thoroughly, and dry with a towel. If you have a long-haired cat, you might want to blow-dry it. Cats enjoy the heat from the dryer, and it gets them dry faster. Happy bathing!!!!!!

Yes, cat can bathe. I actually bathe my cat once a month. Simply buy shampoo & conditioner that stated can be used for cats. I used the brand, PPP shampoo & the Apple conditioner. They do not like dry blow though, I usually just towel dry him as he would always struggle to run away from the dryer!

I never bathe my cats unless they are ill and cannot do it themselves or they get into something. Or, if they get a case of fleas and require a flea bath.
If their coats look good, then, well, all is well.

Cats will clean themselves for the most part. Sometimes they get into things or get skin infections that might require bathing

You're right. Cats clean themselves. If something happens like they roll in the dirt, then you'll need to wash them with a pet shampoo. But if they're an indoor kitty, all you need to do is comb them to prevent hairballs.

Please don't bathe the cat. It's traumatic for them and they will scratch and bite you, making you dislike them for something you did. if they aren't as clean as you like, try this: get a washcloth wet with warm water. wring the wash cloth out well so that it's not dripping. then your cat will love to be petted and rubbed with the wet washcloth. it reminds them of momma kitty bathing them with her tongue. and it will cement your bond as mother to your cat.
I have to deal with alot of foster kitties in my home, sometimes sick. this is the method I use whenever anyone is too sick to clean themselves.
