When you attend a school, they normally give you a card to you as a means of identification. There's usually a number on it. That's your student id number.
They do this because it's easier to set up the computer systems to identify students by ID # rather than the name.

They used to go with your SSN, but with the realities of identity theft they switched to using this. It was about time. They'll have it on your school ID. However it was easy to remember, because you will always be using it.

In college it is usually on the back of your receipt of payment for your classes. In high school talk to your counselor or home room teacher.
