Scientific American Mind magazine had an interesting article on this last year. People experiencing muscle cramps in an amputated arm (say the right arm) looked into a box that had a mirror (on the right side of the box) reflecting the left arm - so it looked like the persons right arm. They were instructed to relax the hand/arm and the mind picked it up as having been done to the missing right arm. It was the visual mind trick that was the link. Does this sound like something you could do with the help of someone else's legs? I wish you luck.

I have heard that using a TENs machine on the affected limb can help with phantom pain, you could try this and see if it helps, some hospitals with a pain management deptartment loan out TENs machine so it might be worth seeing if your hospital has a pain clinic and give it a go, you've got nothing to lose and it is drug free, the clinic might have some other ways off dealing with phantom pain. try looking at mayoclinic.com, this has many ideas on how treat.
I wish you luck.

She might want to experience a discomfort in her foot this isn't any longer there in spite of the undeniable fact that this is the nerves that are bothering her. both legs makes me imagine she is diabetic. Be very careful in case you rubdown her that you do not extra worsen her or inflame the area as sores might want to be sluggish to heal in a diabetic.
