Does it scare you that Jesus is the exact replica of Mithra?

2007-01-22 11:27:47 · 15 answers · asked by Celeritas 5 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Ok, Mithra is a pagan christ who was born from a virgin mother by a god on Dec. 25. He grew up and taught much of what Jesus taught, he even had 12 helpers. He expelled demons from people and healed the sick, pretty much everything Jesus did he was even crucified on a tree and all that...

Maybe Paul used the Mithra story to help him convert unbelievers into the new religion (Christianity)...but that's so weird...whatever.

Mithraism is just one more of the reincarnations of the ancient Egyptian religion of Isis and Osiris. So is Christianity. So is the religion of Attis and Cybele of Phrygia. Osiris was the original man-god, the redeemer and the mediator between God and Man. Mithras and Jesus and Attis are knock-offs. Virgin birth. Death and resurrection. Burial in a tomb for three days. Cries of "He is risen!!!" when the tomb is found to be empty when the stone is rolled away. Birth on December 25. Death and resurrection at Easter. C'mon, guys - there is practically nothing original in Christianity. Some of the Gospel stories are cribbed right out of Persian Zoroastrianism. The only way you can remain comfortable in your ignorance is to refuse to look at reality. "My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts." So move to Kansas.

Mithraism has something to do with "sun god" worship. In ancient times, it is celebrated December 25 as its birtday. This is the origin date reflected on Christmas architected by Roman catholic.

"Catholic jesus" and Dec25 celebration is a replica of Mithra. "Catholic Mary-infant relationship" is a replica of Isis-Horus pagan gods.

The Jesus Christ mentioned in the Bible is not a replica of Mithra

The mythological Jesus draws on more than one source for inspiration. There's a lot of Mithra in it, but there's also a bit of Perseus, Osiris, Horus, Dionysus, and Pan. Religions don't often copy a single character in its entirety, but combine elements of several figures to create a composite character.

You've been reading some good books have you? LOL The hyped up tales about Jesus' life resembles a LOT of old pagan stories. It shouldn't scare people though... any religions are worthwhile if people would just practice the altruism and such that certain religions teach.

No, because Mithraism although having some similarities is nothing close to Who Jesus is and what His purpose is. Don't forget, Satan is the deceiver and tries to imitate God but he always fails. He tries to replicate Jesus all the time and will be doing it in the form of the Antichrist soon also.

well, you've got your facts wrong. Jesus Christ is an exact replica of the same GOD who created you and everything else in this world, including the world, universe etc. Besides, there are many things out there trying to copy Jesus but nothing that man dreams up can even come close.

Mithraism is an extinct religion, and no, Jesus is not an exact replica. Post some of your comparisons and I'll demonstrate this for you. It's not hard to figure out. (Just make sure you don't make stuff up just to sound good--I can sniff out lies like a dog smells his own pee.)

In addition, the fact that Mithraism is extinct demonstrates it's relevance in the lives of the ancients who gave it up in favor of Christianity.

No because you would have to have a distorted view of Christianity and Christ to make that connection.
