Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew if a tool existed to flatten chicken easily and more evenly. I know how to do it conventionally, with wax paper or plastic wrap and a rolling pin or meat mallet. I'm not particularily good at it, and it's a bit of a pain in general. I was thinking there must be something to make the process easier and more even.

I was thinking something akin to those manual aluminum can crushers or perhaps a vice or some kind, but I can't seem to find anything like that online. Does anyone know if anything like this exists?

Thanks!

That truck thing sounds tasty.

I use a meat mallet and pound the heck out of it. I just don't think there is a way around it. So messy too.

Wide heavy skillet

The width will mean you have less pounding needed than the mallet and it is more even than the rolling pin.

I put the piece of chicken inside of a gallon freezer bag. Then pound it with a rolling pin to the thickness I want. The bag does not rip and there is no mess. When done just throw the bag away.

Wrap it up really good and drive back and forth over it? LOL I do like another writer and just cut fillets into thin pieces too as I find the pounding and rolling tedious!

You could try cutting the breast meat to a more even height, it's called butterflying the meat, then take a mallet to it.

try a steam roller, or a car reverse and forward a few times...that will flatten the chicken...the chicken wont like it but it sounds quicker than the aluminum can crusher.

i'm wondering if you could run it through a pasta machine on the lasagna setting. just a thought. i know what you mean though. it is a pain. i filet them with a very sharp small scissor. that gives me a good start and much less pounding.

butterfly the chicken pieces and then cover with plastic wrap and whack the chicken with a heavy skillet - if you do it that way it only takes a couple of whacks
