In Feb 24, 2007,[on saturday]. My class for music choir is going to enter the county music fesivital. There is going to be thousands of kids from other schools and they're going to be competing against us.

We dont have to sing in front of all of them, but just four judges and my music teacher. This is a big deal to me and I cant choke on it and I have stage fright. I picked out a really good song to sing and I do have a feeling I'm going to choke in front of them.

They will be picking a winner from each school [my music choir has 40 kids]. Then after that, they will be going inot another round for the final battle. The prize is a scholraship and I really want it and a trophy.

Stop thinking about everything that can go wrong. You aren't even there yet, and you are already thinking of how bad it will be if you "choke". For now, focus on your practice and perfecting your songs. When the time comes, you can be confident because you know your material really well. When performing, you mind should not be wandering around thinking of the judges, how badly you may do etc. If your mind is doing that, you're obviously not concentrating on what you should be - the music! If your mind is fully focused on what it should be focused on, there won't be space to think about other stuff.

Practice, practice, practice, till you can't forget the music even if you see a ghost and practice some more. Some parts of stage fright you can't help, and if they come, they will come, but with a lot of practice on your piece, you can know it so well that it's almost impossible to forget- so no matter how scared you get, even if your brain suddenly turned off, you will still remember those words.

I'm a musician of far too many years, and that's how we do it, especially in scary situations.

girl, try meditation. You learn to live with your anxiety while feeling relaxed about your body and mind. learn to work with your mind closely and that's the way to go. Learn with a certified and trusted person like Zen or Chan tradition. I am a performing musician and I do it all the time to secure my performances!
