It can be a sticky wicket. I've only had one ex-boyfriend I could do that with and that is because we parted somewhat amicably albeit painfully and we do not "hang out" with one another. I have married.
All my other ex's were very volatile relationships and therefore it was wisest to not have any further communication.
I guess it would depend on how maturely or how cordial the two of you can behave.

It is very difficult to do so unless your split was amicable. Maybe over time you can think about friendship but after a split you are best off trying to have some space and time apart.

i think it depends on what terms the relationship ended, if either one still has feelings for the other person it could never work out, but if both agreed on the break up....why not!
