the first thing you need to do is set up a time in your day Every day for bible study and prayer. It could be an hour or less. Start from the begginning I think and just work your way through from there or if youd rather pick up one of the devotionals that interest you at a local book store and read through it as they suggest. The biggest thing is prayer. and of course tithe. Always give your 10% tithe . Good luck to you and God bless

Go back to church, read your Bible, start at the beginning or just open it to anywhere, I find starting in the Book of Romans to be truly explanatory...Pray by just talking to God. As you read your Bible you will learn better ways to pray! Have others pray for you, I will. It starts with you, you have to choose to follow God, and know that Jesus (God in human form) endured so much more than any of us,& that you too can endure what ever come your way, because you will have the strength of God on your side!

First confess your sins to God , acknowledging you cannot save yourself.

Second accept God's Salvation Plan which is to believe that Christ died for your sins, and through His Ressurection gives us Eternal Life.

Submit to Christ's Lordship in your life, and he will give you a new heart, which will be deemed sinless because of Christ's blood. Get a water baptism to identify yourself with the death and resurrection of Christ.

This allows the Holy Spirit to dwell in your heart, which allows you to worship God in your heart (no need to turn to mecca or medina). He will also sanctify you(dissuade you when you want to return to your old sinful self).

You will now be able to worship God and prayer to him where you are. Even then, the Bible said gather or be scattered.

Build strong relationship with fellow believers to encourage each other and learn the Word of God together by going to a good Bible preaching Church. You will feel the forgiving love of fellow believers.

Wow, you've got some interesting answers there, well, here is the true answer for you. In order to get closer to God, believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. He died on a cross for our sin. He loves you. He wants to have a relationship with you. Ask God for forgiveness, let Him know you believe in His Son as your Savior. He desires eternal life in Heaven for you. Read his love letter to you, which is His inspired word, the Bible. Obey God. Commit His words to your heart and live as He directs you to. He'll give you a peace like you have never felt before and Only He can fill up the God shaped hole within you. That's it, my friend. :)

Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. Get baptized. Let the Love of God pour down on you. If you can talk, you know how to talk to God, and if you are not interested in reading the bible, ask the Lord to help you. Ask Jesus into your heart and He will give you understanding through the Holy Spirit.

Was there a time you were close and now you feel you are not? There was a time I was far from God. I let my anger and resentment rule my life and though I had known of God from childhood I had never committed myself to Him as the ruler of my life. God is not impersonal. He wants a relationship with His children. Relationships include talking to one another--He will speak to you, me, through His Word; you, I, can speak to Him about all that is on our hearts. His Word set me free in so many ways. When I seem to be at a loss for how to pray, I look at the Lord's Prayer and think about each part: how great God is, how precious is His name; that He kept and will keep all of His promises; thanking Him for His care and provision; asking for His grace so I can extend the same to others; to keep me faithful to my Lord Jesus and to protect me and those around me from the evil one; and to honor Him above all things. He will honor your desire to be close to Him.

Try to think positive thoughts and ask others to help you pray. Try calling 1-800-PRAYNOW(1-800-669-7729). It is a toll free 24 hour prayer line in which you can ask for prayer. You can remain anonymous or give them your name and address(they will send you literature of encouragement). The name of the organization is called Silent Unity.

praying is one of the major keys to get closer to god... what you should pray about are things like being thankful for another day of life that hes gave to you, thank him for family and friends, or even the small stuff like thanking him for the little flowers you saw today. reading anything in the bible is good.. for me, i think revelation is a good one to read. =)

Read the sermon on the mount and get familiar with Jesus word again every morning before you go out. The rest will work itself out. Just quietly draw towards him one day at a time.
