It is not advisable. This is because the ph of your dogs skin is different to that of a human and the shampoo has been designed for humans. Using the human shampoo on your dog may cause irritation, itching, spots. However, some dogs do not react. If you are determined to try, test a small area of the dog before bathing it completely!

Human shampoo is made for humans. It is meant to strip the oils out of our scalp & hair. In a pinch you can use human shampoo. If you use it on a regular basis if will make your dog's coat & skin dry. Look for an oatmeal dog shampoo or better yet a soap-free dog shampoo that won't strip the oils.

It's never advisable, even baby shampoo's pH balance is way to strong for dogs skin. The best shampoo to use is a dog or puppy shampoo, diluted (an old milk jug works great). This also will make it so the shampoo doesn't glob in one area of the pets fur, so it is well distributed and easier to use all around!
Good luck.

Technically, you could use human shampoo as long as the dog doesn't have sensitive skin but it is really better to use shampoos formulated for dogs. Better for their skin and coat. Also, just as with humans, there are varieties of dog shampoos that work better on different skin and coat types.
When I was a kid, I used to bathe my dogs with human shampoo and it never hurt them at all. Their coats were fine.
Two of my three dogs have sensitive skin and so I use specialized dog shampoo and good diet to keep their skin and coat healthy.
Sometimes I make my own.

We do, all the time. We have two dogs and we use whatever we have for our hair. Mostly Pantene....it makes their coat really glossy. I don't like the dog shampoos, they seem harsh and smell horrible. Done it for years, no problem. I used to have a very long haired dog and it worked out expensive because I'd get through half a bottle each time!

If you really must, only use baby shampoo. Dog shampoo will not dry out your dog's skin the way human shampoo will. The pH is different.

Not really. If really you don't have dog shampoo then you can you very gentle baby shampoo. Dogs' skin can get really irritated by human shampoo. Spend the money and save yourself a lot of trouble.

I would agree with most and say no, but in all honesty, I have used it a lot on different dogs.
Some before I knew better and others when my dog rolled in something and I didn't have any dog shampoo left.
And I have never seen a bad reaction.

You can use baby shampoo, but otherwise, no, because the detergents in the shampoo will dry out your dogs skin. You're better off just getting dog shampoo.

If your dog has sensitive skin than no if hes just a normal mutt, hes probably tough enough to take it, just avoid shampooing too often or spring for the Doggie stuff. Doggie seems to deodorize better too.
