I wanted to purchase a copy of Win 2000 Advanced Server, but the guy who's selling it doesn't have any CAL's. I asked him about that, and he said that I could just enter in the amount of CAL's I would like to use when I install it. Would the advanced server allow you to do that, or would you still have to purchase CAL's for it?

You can enter any amount you want during the installation, but that does not take away from the fact that you are still legally liable for purchasing the CAL's for your client PC's to connect to the server.
