Is the liberal-infested media to blame?

I doubt that.....We as a nation and a people can win any war we resolve to win. Some people are afraid and unable to support what they must in favor of personal comforts. Thank God there are still brave men and women in our armed forces willing to sacrifice for even the most wretched Americans who do not seem to appreciate the magnitude and vision of this campaign.......There are bigger and more difficult wars ahead. Many Americans are seemingly unaware that radical Islam has been attacking the US for years (Abu Nidal, PLO, SLA, Lybians, Hezbollah, Ham-mas, etc.) decades, but limited these attacks to US installations, tourism, airliners, and cruise ships. These victims seem to have been forgotten. We will be attacked again and again and can not allow rouge nations to use WMD's which though not located in Iraq, were undoubtedly moved to Syria or Iran before the invasion. It is a fallacy and a desired false sense of security to believe otherwise when unfortunately, these WMD and their components were actually given to our enemies, to include Iraq and Iran, when we thought they were our friends.

Because it has become a war of attrition. The U.S. can't win the war the way the military is trained to do. This is because of the public perception of the war. We are fighting an enemy using "The Rules of Engagment". The enemy in this case does not follow said "rules". So long as we keep the hands of the military tied we will never 'win' any future wars either. This is a perception that started with Vietnam, and was perpetuated with all the hokey 80's war movies. War is messy business, and the American public doesn't want to see the truth of it. The second they do see what happens in war the cry to bring the troops home ensues. This is exactly what eventually caused us to pull out of Somalia. Public perception in wartime can be very costly. Especially to the efforts of those intimately involved.

Nope... the problem with the middle east is education, money, and over all culturally differences. The other problem is that we are fighting this war like the one 35 years ago. You either go in and win or do not go in at all. And Since "DUMBSFELDS" did not listen to the military plans before we went, they planned to fail. So there is no way to win this one. it has gone to far in the bad to pull it out.

The way to win, move in additional 150,000 combat troops and lock down the country and shot on sight anyone that does not follow the rules for two years. Then set up a government that will hold the country together.

Who said most americans doubted our "having the ability to win the Iraq war" It is not a matter of having the "ability". Any country with bombs and other weapons can "win" a war. But this isn't a war between the U.S. and Iraq. It is a war between factions...and the U.S. is caught in the cross-fire. Thanks to Bush and his lack of post-war planning, Iraq has become a field of carrion...with Iraqi innocents and U.S. troops taking the brunt of death and destruction. Nothing will change for the better in Iraq - until the United States goes home!

Before we start talking about "winning", we should decide what the objective is for Iraqi. If we intend to kill all the terrorists, then we may have to spend quite a bit of time there.

If the objective is to give Iraq a democratic-type government, then we may have already planted the seed and all we have to do is stand by and help them consolidate their positions.

Remember, "Winning" is obtaining the objective we are after. Once we reach that OBJECTIVE then we have won.

So. let's keep that in mind when we start talking about "winning' or "losing".

They don't really doubt, they more are cowards and/or don't know the real facts about the war. Like most of the soldiers in the war feel they are fighting for a good reason.

Win what? We're not even clear on the objective. What is this war about? Who are we fighting against? Saddam's regime is out of commission. No WMD's. Where's the threat? We're not fighting a government or nation. All we are doing there now is keeping the "peace" until they have a government we approve of in place. Well...get it done and get the heck out.

Our biggest threat is keeping so much of our military over there for so long when there are terrorist who have ACTUALLY threatened us, and ACTUALLY ATTACKED us, some of whom are presently on US soil.

If the real war is on terrorism, Iraq is the wrong place to be.

War in Iraq........ or illegal invasion and occupation? What war?

I think we glorify war and then the kids are shocked to see what it's really like. That goes every war-the WW II vets were honored but they never spoke-if you ever really can get the story-there is never glory in war. There may be reasons to go but young men will always cheer war-and then they get in the middle of it...there will also always be those who only speak of the glory but that's because they can't face the ugliness. Perhaps necessary but always ugly. Why do we pretend it's something else?

And when will we learn to understand our enemy(McNamara said that was his big mistake in Vietnam and Patton said it was the most important thing in war)-yet we have no understanding of the history or religious factions over there. Again.

The media isn't liberal-"infested"; and we might have had the ability to win the war in the beginning, but it's too late now.

Most Americans understand there is no winning the war in Iraq! Only the American oil corporations are holding on so they can finish what they've started.
