I don't know why they had me wear someone elses badge either. I didn't ask questions tho.. It was a great work expirience other than that issue. The best job I ever had.

Making you wear someone else's x-ray badge is not proper at all. Fortunately, however, these badges are checked for radiation levels on a monthly basis. Obviously, non of the badges ever showed for exposure or you would know about it. Therefore, even if you wore someone else's badge you would know if you were exposed.

Not having gloves to wear is also improper. However, x-ray machines are very accurate as to radiation scatter and the only area at risk for significant exposure is the area within the light showing the edges of the film. As long as the x-rays taken don't include pictures of your fingers, lol, chances are you're probably perfectly okay.

I don't suppose they had you wearing the badges behind the aprons, too, did they? These practices you've described are unacceptable. Nonetheless, I expect that you're alright.

I wouldn't worry about it. The exposure is minimal. But if you're worried and if you do more in the future, you could add a thyroid shield. But using someone else's badge wasn't smart - what good would that do you or the other person? It wouldn't be accurate for either of you.

You are probably okay. The only real danger could be to your thyroid. Have your doctor check it on your next visit.
They should have given you your own badge!
