"Ferme(z) la bouche!" = shut your mouth(s) - not too unfriendly
"Tais-toi/taisez vous" = be quiet - a bit stronger
"Ta gueule!" - that's really bad, and should be kept for utter emergencies.

Is it also: taisez-vous?

(from: se taire.... reflexive verb meaning to be silent ... a little more polite than "close your mouth!" - fermez la bouche)
