My family's dog is blinking abnormally; one eye blinks before the other one does. Is this a cause for alarm, or just an interesting quark?

i'd check it out with your vet. something that seems like a quirk could lead to a serious problem.

Depends how long the dog has been doing it for!
If its a long term thing (done since you got it) then probably no need to worry
If started in last few days - weeks then consider eye infection, foreign body.

If he has always done this, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's new it might be something in his eye, a scratch on his eye or something in his eyelid rubbing on his eye.

If it's worrisome it's never a bad idea to check with your vet.
