It's been several years now that I have been diagnosed with a form of epilepsy. Only recently I have come across the concept of seizure alert dogs. I would be interested to find out more about them and also would be great to know how could one get such a companion.

Here are several web sites that have information on the dogs, they can smell the chemical change in your body and alert you that you are going to have a seizure so you get someplace safe, they also help keep you safe during the seizure.

These dogs are highly trained and are a wonderful and amazing help to the folk's who need them. Before any training starts these dogs have been pre-selected for their temperament and intelligence, and ability to get along with people and children. The specialized training may take several months and then sort of "apprentice type" tryout with new owner, after that if all works out for the dog and patient, that situation will become permanent . Many patients for different problems are able to live a much better life, thanks to these "helper dogs" SW RNP
