There are really only two large sects in Islam, Sunni and Shi'a. Even so, Sunni represents 90% of Muslims in the world, so for the most part, Islam is not subdivided as you claim.

The other point is that all Muslims follow the basic tenets of the Islamic religion, the Qur'an and the Hadith. There are no "Quranic versions" like the Bible, just one fundamentally unchanged Qur'an in Arabic, no differences in who God is to different Muslims, who Muhammad was ...etc. So in that too, Islam is much more tightly defined amongst it's followers than Christianity.

The term 'Sufi' is not correctly used anymore but that's besides the point. Among the true Islam, there are only four schools of thought, and these are in no way sects in the sense that they do acknowledge that the other three are Muslims and will enter Paradise. These are the Sunni groups. The Shi'a and Ahmadiyya etc. (the minor groups) are sects in the sense that they do not believe the Sunni's are true Muslims. However, Sunni's do not condemn Shi'a's, etc. to Hell as they do to Sunni's. But among most of these groups, the idea of One God is accepted upon and only other lesser details are disputed.
hope that helps.

I'd say that Christianity has many more divisions, and Islam has just a few, yet very intense differences. But Christians don't go blowing each other up. They're like the Jews: they'll fight amongst themselves, but try to attack them and they'll circle the wagons and become unbeatable as a whole group.
