Actually, she needs to consult her doctor or even the nurses in Pre op registration, as there are supplements that can adversely interfere with or cause the surgery to get post poned, so don't risk it.
Typically zinc, selenium, and echinacea following dosage on packaging would be my recommendation, but ask the doc.

Check out the following website: http://www.enivamembers.com/188138

They have a liquid mineral supplement called Immune Support (item #8903) in a 32 ounce plastic bottle which contains the following: Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Chromium, , Germanium, Boron and their own proprietary blend. The dosage is 1.5 teaspoons per serving daily.

They also have Zinc in liquid form, which is Item #8014 and Selenium in liquid form (item #8005).

Good luck.

She should be careful taking ANYTHING new before surgery. Make sure you tell the SURGEON everything she takes, as you don't know what might affect BLEEDING during surgery. Taking something as simple as a baby aspirin within a couple days of surgery can cause horrendous problems DURING surgery.

So I would stick with the person's suggestion of food. Just have her eat a healthy diet- no supplements without a doctor's permission and knowledge. Best of luck to her!

If you really care about your mom's health, why the heck would you ask the people that reply to questions here? Ask the doctor. For your health though, I would advise vanilla ice cream, for me its too late for ice cream. I am stuck with straight vodka three times a day. Wish your mom success with her surgery. But if you want to ask a question about something important, don't ask here. You might get someone like me to answer! But even worse, you might actually listen to what I said.

zinc is good, but vitamin C and a good multi vitamin will really help. you can get adequate vitamin C by drinking full pulp orange juice every day. this will also give you folic acid, which is good for women anyway.
