But of course it is! Oppression is the weapon of self indulgence. Whether the area be gender, religion, cultural or political it serves only one purpose, to advance ones own person intrests at the expense of others.
Only when humanity comes to the enlightenment that one cannot harm their neighbor without in turn harming themselves will we be able to overcome these kind of selfish actions.
It's minds like yours dear Mudcat, that give me great hope for the future of humanity!

And I also believe oppression is a sin against the word of God although there was oppression during bible times. As the oppressor there are a set of biblical laws one must follow when they have slave or maids what ever you want to label them.

IMHO, yes, but legally it would be very vague.
For example, at what point would you say that Hugo Chavez has crossed that line? People who have lived under dictators (like my wife) began to recognize the signs 2 years ago. I'm American born and a little more naive, so I say "not yet".
If you can't come to a consensus while you see it happening before your eyes, how will you prove it in a court of law? What constitutes "oppression"?

Only if you're oppressing humans. If you're oppressing mice, then it's a crime against mice.
