This seemed to come out of no where. Just two days before he sent me the sweetest text messages telling me how much he loves me and earlier that day (the day he wanted a break) he seemed just fine. What is going on???

Sometimes a guy just gets antsy from being around the same person so much. He wants to be free for awhile to do some other things he feels he can't do with you around all the time. He gets the feeling of being trapped at times. Guys just sometimes need some breathing room! It's a lucky guy that finds a girl who understands this without question or heartache!

your boyfriendfeels trapped and wants a break to go out and "hunt". it is primeval instinct that he cannot help. give him his space and he will be back.
