I would find out why I think this way and fix it. In fact, I did just that. Now, I'm realizing my dreams.

This is a difficult question to answer because I'm trying to see what kinds of dreams you cannot attain. Are these dreams like for example, becoming a doctor...saving children...ect. I know they sound a little cliche but nevertheless I will assume this is what you mean.
In life there are incredible obstacles to overcome, but one way you can look at it is, life only throws at you what you can handle. Just the other day I read a moving story about how a young schizophrenic man made it through law school, and another made it through an economics degree. Most people can't do this when they have no ailment but they both managed to do it. You really have to look on the brightest side of things, it is the hardest thing to do in life - if you can't achieve these dreams, create new ones that fit your views and life. Things can always get better and the human mind and body can always improve themselves, don't ever let someone tell you any different. Human beings have a desire to know and to strive for something, the worst thing you can ever do is to give up and stop trying, this is the ultimate injustice a man or woman can do to themselves, and well alcohol never solved anyones problems.
personally, I would never stop trying until it killed me, dream on.

I am currently working through just this problem. I have had two different dreams. One carear since I was 12, and one personal since I was 5. I am now 44 and neither can ever come true. I am on medication; I see a psychiatrist and a therapist, I am trying to work through things to find at least some way of fitting into society. You take it one day at a time, one small goal at a time - even if it is just washing the dishes. Suicide is not the answer (tried that 5 times, died and medical science brought me back).
Get into therapy and try to work on new goals
Good luck - go with God

There are two ways of looking at this:
1. If first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again...you gotta dust yourself off and try again....(sorry that song always come to my mind)
or
2. Sweetie, some dreams aren't meant to be acheived. Lets Face it, There are millions of people out there who want to start their own business, i mean MILLIONS....got that? ok. good. well how many are capable of organizating/starting/planning their own business? Or even know what you have to do in the first place? and how much money you need to start out with? Dreaming is the easy part. Its the Doing that's hard. Now that you figured out what your realistic dreams are, aside from the fantasy ones (sure they could be the ones about your sex life) you have a new focus in life. A new goal. And a better one, because you eliminated what didn't work out for you.
3. Please don't become an alcholic...or a pornatic...or spiderman (damn that'd be so cool!) Life is hard. But thats why you gotta play hard. Ever heard of "problem solving?" ..Oh yea...we learned that in 8th grade in math/science class. o-my---god---. Lets see, do i just sit here and let my self rot away...um...or do i go and try to do something?

You have decided then it will never happen?
If you want to fulfil your dreams then you have to stay focused on what you want and how to get there..
Positive thinking and determination will help you accomplish what you want maybe you aimed to high to begin with step by step is how to get there it wont happen overnight...
What is it that tells you that you can never acheive your dreams self doubt negative thinking... You can be what ever you want as long as you know your limitations and dont reel of in to fantasy be realistic in your thinking..
You dont say what career path you chose do you have the nesessary qualifications, and drive and commitment required for your chosen career...
Are you sure its really what your life purpose is, did you look at other areas linked to this career did you need finacial backing for it?
Sometimes we are taken off our chosen path for a while but it doesnt mean we cant acheive what we set out to.. Take a look at it again from a different angle get others input on it they may have a solution..
No negative thoughts stay focused and positive you will find the answer... Good luck

Find a new dream, one you can attain.
My "dream" didn't happen. I chose another one.
I've been successful and happy.
Don't give up. Alcohol never "cured" unhappiness- it just leads to more loss.
There are lots of options out there. Take a
look around.
And stay off tall buildings. The first step off
is a lulu, and there's no way back.

I would try to make the most of my life and still persue something that would allow me to be sucessful even if it wasn't my dream job. In fact, that IS what happened to me and thats how i'm going about it. With a new career. I've learned that you have to just get over it because things will not always go your way.

I actually, from day 1, started thinking realistically. You know, skipped all that, "I wanna be a famous rock star, or the first person on Pluto", and all that, I actually thought very rationally. If I couldn't even do what I wanted now, well, I'd work at McDonald's I guess.

Life is not a set plan. It can be changed and modified. Dreams and goals are very flexible. We all start out with one dream and end up with another. You have to take your life by the horns and tame it to your liking.
