Have you tried different depths. Try a hook, sinker and bobber rig with worms or minnows at different depths or jig a minnow through weeds or you can use artificials.

Artificials: Jitterbug, Stickbait, Spinnerbait, Buzzbait, Rapala, Deep Divers, Flies, Soft Plastic Worms or Lizards and Poppers.
Try them in a veriety of colors and sizes.

You should fish just off a weed bed in about 5 to 20 feet of water.

Good Luck!!!!!! I Really Hope You Catch Something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worms are generally the best, except for in the Spring. Use lizards and crawfish.

Warm weather early morning
Devil's Horse
Broke Back
Buzz Bait

as the temp rises, switch to spinner baits (see the packaging about the different blades), crank baits (look for specific depths these dive hotter the temp deeper the lure), and jerk baits.

In extreme heat, use a jig in heavy cover.

In cold weather the same lures will work, but must be fished very slowly.

Hope this helps.

catch small bluegill with a small rod, nose hook them with your bass rod, cast out with a bobber that's about 2-3 feet from the hook, and wait til the bobber drops down and stays down. you can use this technique with shiners also, you can buy them at your local tackle shop.

as for the artificials, we have a lot of local plastic molders here in san diego. i like any plastic worms split shotted, texas rigged, drop shotted, or even flylined.

my favorite brand of plastics are roboworm and gary yamamoto. if you're looking for those wintertime monsters, try the swimbaits; you'll need heavy gear for those.

bass fishing is learned over a lifetime, look for tips in the magazines or local internet message boards.

Here is my short list of go to baits. Rattle trap, jerk bait (repalla), crank bait (various depths), spinner bait. These are great search baits when worms aren't doing the job.

Several factors must be taken into consideration when choosing bait. Location, temperature, Water color, depth, lure color. I am particularly fond of Mann's lures, they seem to be pretty versatile in most conditions.
