A friend of mine had one for her twin boys but I wasn't there for it, I just saw the pictures the other day. My son is too old to have the one I was looking at, it said before 101 days after birth and as close to the full moon. I am interested in having one for our second baby when he or she decides to show up.

It all depends on whether the group follows a set tradition or if the group is eclectic.

If the group follows a set tradition; do some research into the trad.

If it is eclectic; ask the person that will be doing the naming.

OK

First of all, there is no time limit for a 'Wiccaning'.... it can be bestowed during any night that you find significance..... Full Moon or New Moon or even Eclipse for that matter.

Secondly the name should be something that matters to you, but should also be something that is only temporary until the child is old enough to decide for themselves.

The childs name for the Wiccaning is a simple ritual to bring safety and peace to the child so that one day that child can pick out its own name. That 'Naming Ritual' shoudl not be before they attain puberty probably....so the first name will be there for awhile.

Parents have always generally chosen a name for a child with traits the parents would like to see the child cultivate, or something that signifies that child's arrival (i.e. something associated with the birth, like an animal that showed up in the back yard during a home birth, or somesuch). This name is only given until the child is old enough to choose one for his/herself.

Hope this helps a little.

I always stuck with the name that I had come up myself. It's been my screen name for some time, but I feel that it's become some what of a seperate personality that is slowly blending into my own...

Sorry, don't have a clue
