funny thing, as a catholic school kid there are many people in the church that are conflicted with these very issues but do not have the courage to challenge or question the church. ever heard anyone in the Catholic church bring up the vow of chastity amongst the priest? many folks do not think that is necessary today either.
History and science challenge a lot of what we are taught in the bible. The irony for me is my catholic church was not into literal words of the bible, but interpretation of the meaning. we were kind of liberal. our techers taught us it was ok to even question God. If you believe in God, but question Adam and Eve that is normal. The process of faith should be an intellectual and analytical process for your own development. Don't ever change that. I am a christian too. In my view god gave us the ability to think, and we must always think. Who is to say that the 1st adam and eve were not primates, cro-magnum, neanderthals, etc., of which we evolved. How about Noah's Ark? Is that a true story or story on the test of one faiths and commitment to god? we can even talk about the church's position on the use of science to help people have babies. The church opposes it in any and all forms. meanwhile I think life is the most precious thing we have and should promote it in any form or opportunity. Tell your friend she cannot define your thoughts and your faith. challenge her on her abilty to think for herself, and you might actually find a shallow person that needs the strength and courage you have.

Is not truth, look the important thing is that you believe in that supreme being, God, and I must tell you I believe in the bible, I have read the whole thing, and let me tell you I believe we got to where we are through evolution, but I believe that God also put those things that led to the evolution, is just that when the bible was written they didn't know a lot of words or natural events... just imagine if you saw a helicopter for the first time, and you didn't know what it is... would you had name it helicopter? or maybe bird that in is wound carries humans?... everything is interpretation... and if you read the passage and take a closer look you will see that some how evolution is being describe, as a metaphor... you can take that Adam and Eve where the first homosaphiens to exist... but again don't let other people take you in or tell what you are and what you are not... just do what your hearth tells you is good with regards to what God has teach us... remember God inspired the bible, but humans wrote it... so you got to understand what kind of people wrote and what can be the truth meaning under the words.

I wonder what makes people think that if something is told to them from the bible or someone has told the the bible says-whatever they think it is right. There are way too many people in society that are so narrow minded and have a one track mind and are afraid to say exactly what the think or believe beacuse OMG it might not be the same thought as the next narrow minded person. People need to wake up and REALIZE that NOT everyone thinks the same and just beacuse not everyone thinks or believes the same there is NOTHING WRONG with it. Everybody is entitled to their OWN BELIEF's. You can argue this so called religion junk all day long and NO ONE is EVER GOING to get ahead all it is going to do is cause arguments . What gives your FRIEND the right to TELL YOU you are not a good catholic or a christian because you dont exactly agree with what she says. SO she has the right to "JUDGE" YOU--SHAME ON YOUR FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's true, man did write the Bible...under the inspiration of God. He inspired what they wrote--so to be accurate, God wrote the Bible. The Bible is the living word, and you get to know God and how to live in this world by reading it: nothing a man ever wrote could do that.
One of the first things that has to be true about you if you are a Christian is that you have to believe what God says, i.e. what is written in His Word. There is nothing in the Bible that is not the perfect truth (another reason why man could not have written it). It clearly says that God created the Heavens and the earth in six days
Another important point: contrary to popular belief, Christianity and Catholicism are as different as night and day.

In a way, yes, that's true. However, you could point to some belief of any Christian and find a contradiction to it in the Bible. The Bible was written by yokels who didn't know much science. They also didn't have the same morality we have now. There are some wise things said in the Bible, but it's really a mixed bag. For example, women back then were treated as property a little more valuable than pets. Today, most women in the world have the right to vote as equals.
Evolution is fact, though. Don't let your religion get in the way of thinking.

Yes, humans wrote the Bible but it was humans who listened to what God told them to write. I can't see the corolation of Catholic and Christian in one person. Especially one that believes she or he came from monkeys. That makes for a poor profession of believing that you are saved by Jesus knowing you were made by God.

well, you should believe what the Bible says but i have a lot of friends who have the same view as you- some are not even christian. But in the end- God did say that all types of people will make it (unexpected and from different religions) hope you're there!

If you don't believe what the Bible which is The Word of God says, it's the same as saying God is a liar...now with that in mind, do you really believe you would be saved? I think not. PEACE!!!

Your status as a "Christian" depends on whether or not you're born again. God expects your beliefs to be based on facts and the truth, not the predetermined formula of any religion or book.
Just concentrate on your spiritual health. Your beliefs will fall into place in due time, and arguments like this will only cause harm.
