She has a Husky of her own, a Boston Terrier and a "Tea Cup" Pomeranian....When she came home, she found her "Pom" chewed up and bloody and obviously dead....She blamed her daughter's dog.but also stated it was an accident...I was told that no matter how much training these dogs have, they are preditors and will attack smaller animals...Is this true about Siberian Huskys?...I feel so bad for her...The "Pom" was her baby....

Oh that's so awful, I would be heartbroken. More than likely the Siberian just got to playing too rough with the little guy and killed him, and then used him like a chew toy. I doubt he just attacked the Pom for being little, he would have killed the Boston as well. Poms have big attitudes as well, it's possible the little guy was antagonizing the Huskey and just got way more than he bargained for.

Again, I'm so sorry for her.

I have owned and raised Huskies for a long time. No, its not a specific husky trait. Any larger dog has the potential to do that. I have a Siberian that lives in the house with 2 small daschunds and there has never been a problem. With huskies or any dog socialization is the key. If they are not socialized many times primal behavior will come out.

Wow. I guess it is true.

That poor baby.

I can't even begin to think what this poor thing went through.

Your friend is wrong, it was no accident. It was nature. And lack of sociability training. And, lack of supervision of the dog in a strange place.

A pet dog should be able to sniff a bird up close, a cat, and a child, without going into kill mode.

Every dog is entitled to be safe in their own home.

There really isn't anything to say except now you know, your friend's dog will kill a small animal.

Keep the dog away from children and in his own yard at all times. No more visiting anyone for that dog.

Now your friend knows. If she brings the husky to someone else's house and something happens, she will expose herself to criminal charges. And the dog to euthenasia.

Sad.

I forgot to add how sorry I am, for everyone involved.

Huskies, Shepherds, some other dogs have high kill instincts and some dogs will just kill any small animal they can get ahold of. They should never show aggression to humans though.

I love my husky, but know he can be a bit agressive with other animals, but is quite lovable and fawning with people. So understand that the woman in question would be surprised...I was surprised when my Max killed a possum...

Any dog is capable of killing something another animal ,child what have you . Now this husky has tasted blood and has attacked another animal it must be put down absoloutly no question about it . she will always harbor ill will in her mind against this dog. It must be put down . good luck .

it probably was, and nothing will change the husky's behaviour. my aunt has a golden retriever, and everyone believes they are nice, however the dog has killed over 10 farm cats.
