Buyer wants to pay with check or money order which I dont' accept, and is on the listing. Only paypal and credit cards. Do I have to accept the check /money order because the buyer has won anyway?
Note, I have given the buyer the option to use a debit card with paypal and am waiting to see if she can do that.

Thank you for your responses. I did clearly indicate in my Yahoo!Auction listing acceptable forms of payment i.e. PayPal/credit cards. Buyer emailed me wanting my address in order to send me a personal check/Money Order, neither of which I listed on the auction. I have given her the option to pay through a debit card with paypal. So I wanted to know if I was compelled to accept her check / money order, because she was the winner?

if you have posted the form of payment .... then no you do not...
personsl checks //no way.. of course you may loose a sale...
and fake money orders are floating every where.. the way this buyer wants to pay smells of a scam.... if they can send you a check , they sure can use a debit card...

Are you asking about eBay?

Are your terms clear in your auction listing? Did the buyer know in advance that you only accept paypal? Did you state this correctly in your listing? If so, then no, you don't have to accept other payment. Ask one more time for the buyer to fulfill the terms of the auction using Paypal, and if he doesn't, report him for non-payment so you can get your auction fees refunded and relist.

BTW, this situation usually indicates a scam. You probably won't get paid. If you accept the check or MO, it will probably end up being fake.

What is wrong with paypal? I am just curious, I do not know anything but heard paypal is the way to go on there...I will look back to see what others say since I plan on selling things there also very soon. THANK YOU and here is a star for asking something I probably would ask.

If you've clearly stated that Paypal is the only method of payment you accept then you have every right not to sell that item to the buyer.

If you clearly indicated what form of payment you would accept, any bids from a buyer that is not willing to pay by those means are fraudulent. That means, technically, she didn't win the auction because her bid was invalid.

That question is easily answered by the contract you both entered into. If the person wants to pay with a check, then what is the problem with paypal. Paypal requires that you have a checking account.

CASE CLOSED.

If Check and/or MO was not listed in your auction then I think you can require PayPal. Ask them to pay with with PayPal and they can use an eCheck in PayPal.

NO. If you stated in your listing that you only take paypal then you don't have to accept payment from them.

Checks can bounce. They also take time to clear. The buyer must follow your terms of sale.
