What happens is that your nicotine levels go higher than if you were just on the patch OR just smoking!
See, the patchs "leak" in a small amount of nicotine over a period of time.. producing a pretty level amount of nicotine in your blood stream. That way you don't have any "cravings" or at least not as much.
Now, when you SMOKE, you get a big SPIKE in nicotine.. then as that decays away and gets used up.. you end up wanting another cigarette and then you smoke it, and boom your nicotine level shoots up again.
So, if you smoke AND have the patch.. you have this steady level, then you ADD this wavy cigarette level on top of that! You can end up with SO MUCH nicotine in your blood that you can get quite sick, puke, shake and even die!
Nicotine is actually used as a POISON! Really! not cancer but a real poison.. they use it to kill bugs!
And if you were to soak a whole pack of smokes in water for a few days, DRINK the water (nasty!), it would likely kill you..the nicotine comes out of the leaves and into the water.

Hi If you use a nicotine patch and smoke cigarettes at the same time you will greatly increase the nicotine level in your body causing severe nausea . I also had very bad sleep and totally frightening nightmares . also bad breath and a general feeling of wanting to be sick .

You can overdose on nicotine. It will make you jittery, shaky, nauseous, maybe you'll vomit, dizzy, vision disturbance, and you'll have a hell of a time getting to sleep tonight.
Was it worth it?
Read the package labels.
Try looking at the American Cancer Society website- when smokers quit. They are the experts- and their brochures are great. My son said "Set Yourself Free" was the most helpful tool I gave him when he was trying to quit.

You can do it! Don't take that puff!
Good luck!
