This is normal for him to try to suckle ,the cruel people who abandoned him did'nt give him time to be weaned from his Mum.So he is still needing the formula to replace his mums milk.Feed him from a small baby bottle or a dropper, eventually he will overcome the anxiety he has suffered from losing his mum.Try to get him to lap his milk ,he will learn to do this naturally when he is ready. You could place a little of the milk on his nose and he will lick it off .When he starts lapping nature will show him the way and he will end up with a lovely white smile. You are in fact his mum now, you must be very proud and you care for him a great deal, this kitten is very lucky to be with you.Give him a cuddly toy at night this will replace his siblings ,best of luck with your little family. What is he/she's name ?Cuddles.!

I'm not sure exactly where people are getting their info from, but kittens are normally weaned by their parents at around 5 weeks. It usually isn't a gentle process either... mom might attack the wee ones if they try to suckle and she's decided she's not taking any more of it. If they're eating solid food on their own then they should be ok. You might want to provide extra heating for themthough, making sure that they have shelter from the elements etc. Again, not sure where people are getting info from, but first vaccines and deworming optimally takes place around 8 weeks. They come in a series of 3 boosters spaced a month apart. You can adopt your kittens out any time after 8 weeks. the only time I've ever seen kittens vaccinated before 7 or 8 weeks are in cases of breeders doing it themselves and hoping to sell off the kittens as soon as possible so they can make money and get more kittens on their queen. Your kittens should be fine, but if you have any further questions it doesn't cost anything to call your veterinarian and ask.

Well this is all normal behavior. A couple of months ago, I adopted a 5.5 week old kitten. He still wanted some kitten formula but he was already ready for some kitten food. So don't worry. When he or she is ready they'll eat the food. Only time will tell. In the meantime, make sure your kitten gets lots and lots of love and attention. Remember, it's still a baby and needs all the comfort and love that is mom would of given him. Good luck and take advantage of the kitten stage, it's a whole lot of fun.

My abandoned kitten is 5 months old and will get "kitten"food for another 7-8 months. They are still growing and need a different type of food than an adult.
Props' for taking the kitten.

Actually at 5 weeks old the kitten should still be feeding on kitten formula or the mom's milk. Since this kitten is abandoned it will need to fed on special kitten formula (like you have). He/She is "eating" the right thing. Keep it on that until it is weening age.
*Hope I helped*

you should just keep it and name it. You can keep feeding it kitten formula and it should grow into a loving cat in the future, but don't feed it kitten formula too often or it will get use to that taste and will get sick, (when its bigger) then you could go to the vet and get medication but it probably not work. So just keep it happy and healthy and it should be fine.

It's normal, listen to the vet. Do you have a kitten bottle? After a little more time, you can cut the nipple to allow thicker liquid to come out and you can get jarred baby food and mix the kitten formula with it to start to transition to solid food.

This is perfectly normal. I took in a 2 week old kitten in August..best move I have ever made. (animal wise) He didnt start on "real" food until he was about 8 weeks. I suggest thst you try to keep him, Oliver is 6 months old now, and he is very healthy, he is the sweetest baby!!! He actually thinks I'm his Mother. He goes where I go, eats when I eat. It is a truly fascinating relationship. Extremely rewarding!!!

The kitten formula is the best for it. It will eventually eat food, just keep offering it and it will eat it when it is ready.
Good luck with your kitten!

its wants kitty formula because its was born on it its just like a baby all babies want is formula. all the formula is, is a special milk just for kittens. its teeth are not big enough to chew the cat food so it will suck on everything(just like teathing). you should keep feeding it formula until a certain amount of months when its ready for the real food.
