when i take it off the truck just dies. WHY??

The mass air flow is in the hose. It does not have any air going through it. Try disconnecting the MAF connector first, it may stall but you can normally restart it. Then take the hose off. It is gonna set a code that will need to be cleared.

It will not run if the mass air flow sensor does not see air going into engine.

Your computer sees no air entering the engine and dumps fuel in it and that is why it stalls.

Because there is no vacuum pressure when you take it of so the engine will splutter and die RIP

you have to be sure your mass air flow sensor has been properly bypassed.....also check your map[manifold air pressure]sensor.
