I don't think in 2003 there was a 2WD available. Like previous gent said check for drive shaft and rear axles with boots on them.

There will be an extra shifter for the transfer case inside, or it will have an electronic control for shifting into 4wd. Awd is a little harder, but you would have drive shafts and differentials at both ends of the car. Also the car should be badged with either AWD or 4WD.

remove one of the hub or center caps on the front wheels and if there is a large nut in the center it is a 4wd.
