In today's times, it seems that girls are giving it up for any guy they call their boyfriend. I plan on staying abstinent until marriage, and am curious as to whether or not this puts me at a disadvantage when meeting/dating guys. Do guys just see me as marriage material and not as dating material? Guys, is it a turn-off when you meet a girl and find out that she's saving herself for marriage? Or are you more likely to get in a relationship with her if you know she'll eventually give it up?

Actually, my ex was (and as far as I know, since we don't talk anymore still is) a virgin. But honestly, I'd rather date someone who's done it before than that jerk again.

Don't worry - it will happen. Don't try to preach it to the guy right away. Take time to find out who they are. Most guys will find it a huge turn off, if you tell them that on a first date. You will find someone right for you and you shouln't compromise your principles either.

Okay here's the deal. Im sure you will get ALOT of people on here telling you either that its normal to have sex before marriage and that theres something wrong with you etc etc. Im a guy and I am ALSO waiting until I get married! You are NOT alone there are many men and women who are waiting until marriage. We are hated and mocked in society and media. But our numbers are quite large ! did you know that? yep. its americas dirty little secret: moral people!! oh what a scandal! //Anyway I think its a MAJOR turn on when a woman is keeping herself for marriage. If a woman is not a virgin I will NOT hold that against her but a woman who managed to keep herself for marriage is a woman who has guts in todays society. Guess what? Youll EASILY weed out guys who truly are interested in you and those who just 'want some'. Oh sure there are good guys who want sex out of marriage--but if they are so good they will prove it but still going out with you and staying faithfull without the sex. As long as both can do that and are doing that you will have a great shot at mutual respect level few couples attain. Im not Catholic but a very good essay on the matter is the one below.

I don't believe that guys will not date a girl that is saving her virginity for marriage. When I dated a girl that never came up. It didn't make any different to me but it would have been a plus. I think some of the statements you make are not correct. I don't believe it puts u at a disadvantage unless you harp on this fact all the time. Well what are you dating for if not looking for a mate to marry. Boy that is a loaded question. i don't think guys think that way. I think its just the same if the person is a girl or boy. Maybe a guy is saving himself for marriage.

Honey, I've got your back!! I'm staying abstinent until marriage as well, and I couldn't be happier! I wouldn't worry about what guys think of you-dating material or marriage material! As far as I'm concerned, if a guy ISN'T attracted to a girl who has kept herself pure like you have, HE IS AN EFFIN MAN-WHORE!!!! What sane guy would sleep with a girl who has "been around the block"? BEING PURE GIVES YOU THE BEST ADVANTAGE OF ALL!!!! CAUSE WHEN A GUY DOES LOOK FOR A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU, YOU KNOW THAT HE'S DOING IT WITH GOOD INTENTIONS!!!!

Let me put it this way ... if you are abstinent, you are guy shopping in a very narrow market.
From a woman's point of view . . . some guys may be attracted to the "challenge" of being the first. These are real losers because they are disrespectful. Most guys that are respectful will understand that today the "normal" course of a committed relationship that is growing in intimacy will likely result in physical intimacy before marriage. You may find some guys that are very traditional ... but like I said .. you are shopping in a narrow market.
But you must be true to yourself.

The way i see it, you will most likily get less dates than other girls, however the relationships you have will be more meaningful. I am sad to report that many of my fellow males look for one key thing in a relationship, an easy lay. But most of these guys you wouldn't want to date anyway. If you want a boyfriend simply as the accessorie, you are going to have to change your ways. I reccomend that you stay abstinate, decent guys who are controlled by their brain and heart rather than their other male organ will flock to you and respect your views on sex.

Wow a guy like you is really hard to find. I would be willing to go out with a guy like you and and stay abstinent till marriage. I know a lot of females that would be willing to do the same. I am sure you will find someone that will respect your values. Good luck!

BLESS YOU MY DEAR!
Thank God there are those out there with morals. If a guy is really in love with you, he will wait for marriage. I'm 50 years old and I've only met up with your kind twice and both I had no problem with leaving in that exact same condition. I was honored that they let me take them to dinner and a movie.
Keep with your morals and don't let anyone change you.
Have fun and I wish you all the best life has to offer.

This question is self explanatory. For most men, the pinnacle of any relationship is sex. I dont see you finding a abstinent man. So ask yourself this question: How many men your age are virgins?
