Neither Iams nor Purina is a good food for cats. They both use by-product meat and consist of 2/3 corn - not a good diet for an obligate carnivore who should have 2/3 high quality meat protein in its food. You can pay 75 cents more for a bag of Iams and it is no better than Purina One.
The good ones: Natural Balance, Solid Gold ,Eagle Pack, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, Felidae, CA Natural. The last one is the most expensive and it is the same price as the Iams. For your money you get the first two ingredients as high quality meat and fillers such as brown rice, millet, oat or pea which are better utilized by your cat for protein.
If you ask a vet why he recommends a certain food and ask "What's in it that makes it better than any other?" You will definitely catch the vet with egg on his face as he won't have an answer for you.

Purina ONE is my favorite. I like it even better than the more expensive purina brand Pro Plan. The cats love it. I do alot of cat foster work and my cats have less sniffles, diarreah, eye infections or other health problems than when i go the cheap route with Cat Chow or Friskies. I'd love to be able to afford Nutro though - I hear that is one of the very best. Always feed your kitty the most expensive cat food you can afford and you will be rewarded with a healthy, happy and long-lived cat. Do not buy science diet please. I hear they do alot of propaganda to vets, but the food is not good and animals don't find it tasty.

Well, if you're willing to spend extra $$, go for Iams or Science Diet. They're good for the cats, but so are the cheaper brands. I would suggest Purina, as it has food for all stages of life, and the cats love it. I can't remember ever using anything else!

All the vets will tell you to get iams or any other Science diet cat food they sell because it will cost you triple the regular cat food. Me and my wife feed our cat Purina indoor cat food or meow mix indoor cat food because it is made for that type of cat. Get at least one bag of every cat food out there and let your cat choose. Our cat chose those two. The cats are all knowing when it comes to what they want.

Iams or Eukanuba. Both are made by the same people. The nutrients in them are more concentrated and therefore they eat less of it. 9 lives and Friskies type from the grocery store is like junk food for cats. Any vet will tell you Iams, Eukanuba.

I have 3 cats, and we feed them Nutro Maxcat, found in Pet Stores. Alot of the stuff you find in say the supermarket are high in fat which is not good for your cat. There are also more preservatives in the cheaper stuff. It's the difference between a 2 star and 4 star rest, the quality of the food.

I feed my cat Meow Mix. Everyone always tells me how soft and silky her fur feels. She is quite healthy. Her fur want this silky when I got her a little over a year ago. I won't tell you the brand of food her previous owners gave her but I switched her to Meow Mix because my other cat lived a very long life with Meow Mix.

Iams is the best. I have had my cat on Iams for 9 years and the few times she has been of it i can tell a hugh difference in her coat. It glitters on Iams, she has tried other Vet brands but i always come back to this one it really is the best

I would recommend a premium food. We've had good success with Science Diet, PetsMart's Authority, Life's Abundance, and Iams. I like using the ones with whole foods are better. I would not use a "grocery store" food that has alot of fillers in it.

Just the other week my vet told me that Purina is like us eating McDonald's everyday. He suggested "Science Diet" and "Iams" as the best dry food for cats.
