Click on Start go up to "settings" click on "control panel" find the "system" icon and double click on that it will tell you on the window that pops up.

Right-click on My Computer and select the Properties option, the dialogue that appear will tell you at the top what version of Windows you're running. Here's the kind of thing you should get:

Just open an Explorer window. Then click Help > About Windows. It will show you your current version of Windows.
