Having life insurance on a child is a good idea, period. The policy isn't meant to be much - just enough to bury the child, and perhaps help the family out while they grieve and can't work.
It's inexpensive, and it's certainly worth it, in my opinion. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child...but to have that combined with the fact that someone wants me to pay to take care of (bury) them? I just can't imagine taking out a loan to pay for funeral expenses. I would be reminded over and over each time I made payments.
I'd rather pay the $4 a month and hope I never have to use it.
Life insurance is ALWAYS a good idea, no matter how old the person is.

Heck no! Gerber is whole/universal life which is a total waste of money. Term insurance is the only way to go. Also if you have a good term plan you should be able to put your kid's on for free. My b/f and I have a $500,000 term policy on ourselves and each of our kids have $15,000 coverage for no additional charge. We pay $60 per month. Any whole life/ universal life/ or cash value insurance is garbage!
Discreetdude is right too. Life insurance is really intended to provide income when a person who provides a source of income for the family passes. The money is better off being put in a college fund and using savings or credit cards for a baby's funeral. But I have life insurance on my kids anyway because I want to give them a nice funeral if something happens. And it is free for me anyway.

My mother had a Gerber life insurance policy on me because she was 19 and would not have been able to afford to bury me without it...things happen, and the LAST thing you need when you've lost a child is not being able to pay for at least a decent funeral. It sounds morbid, but it happens.
When I was 25, the policy money was my mother's wedding gift to me. It was the most meaningful thing I got because we celebrated the fact that she never had to use it for its intended purpose, and in fact, used it for the happiest day of both of our lives.

Yes.
We have policies out on both our girls.
You can never say that nothing happens to babies or kids becaus eit does, and we want to be prepapred financially that if anything was to happen, arrangments will be taken care off.
We also have policie sont hem thorugh my husbands job aswell as on ourselves.
We looked extensivly into Gerber and felt comfortable with the company.
If nothing happens to our babies, then when they turn 21 they are alllowed access to the money to use in any way they want.
Of course we'll be directing them as best we can for college use or to put toward a house. Something logical rather than material like the latest T.V or car fad!

Why would you take life insurance out on a baby? Makes no sense to me. I have life insurance on myself and my wife because if we die, there needs to be a source of money for my children. If our babies die, why would I need money? Scraping the money together to bury them would be a small hill in the a face of the enormous tragedy. Say my daughter gets to the age a 25 and I have to explain to her that I have had a life insurance policy on her all a long. I hope she would be woman enough to scold me for wasting money on such a pathetic idea.

basically you're pouring money into something that ...when they turn 25 or whatever they can buy...see that..BUY into a plan worth $100,000. but honestly, at most entry level jobs you can get about that for a few bucks a paycheck. i think it's stupid and another way to rip off the american public through insurance scams. what baby needs life insurance? honestly.
